Comment:
A tender evergreen tree, the only species in its genus.
There are however two subspecies of which 'aspleniifolia' is one and 'floribundus' the other.
The red bark is striking, and is even more so if the old bark is carefully stripped off.
The leaves are almost fern like and unlike those of any other tree grown in this country.
A very unusual tree, which is only just hardy enough to be worth trying in a very protected site.
The W.A specimen has however reached 7m without any serious setbacks.
